You would never be able to tell it from the picture but I’m almost positive this was taken while she was being institutionalized.
It was. It’s a picture that’s included in Edie: An American Girl by Jean Stein. It was taken when she was 15 or 16 at Silver Hill (a schwank institution) around the same time she had sex with another patient, got pregnant and had an abortion. Best bio of her I’ve ever read.
